Norbulingka Anniversary Blog Series - Inauguration

The Norbulingka inauguration celebrations began on November 8, 1995, and lasted 3 days.
The first was marked by the opening ceremony, presided by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which included speeches, by His Holiness, members of the Tibetan administration and Indian officials. There was an important Japanese presence, including a member of parliament, Tibetan religious figures, Mongolian abbots from monasteries in Mongolia, Buryat and Kalmyk, as well as European and American guests. Following the inauguration was a long life offering to His Holiness. There was lunch for everyone present, including our local Indian neighbors. In the afternoon, and the following two days was the Lhamo opera, performed by the Bylakuppe troupe, at that time, the most highly by the connoisseurs.
